The City of Portsmouth provides water and wastewater services to approximately 20,000 residents. Moving from paper maps to AutoCAD to a GIS system, they are now utilizing VUEWorks. Portsmouth has created a master plan and a sustainability plan with the help of Portsmouth Listens, a collaborative effort between residents and the City to shape the future of the city. Portsmouth Listens sponsors an annual sustainability fair.

Rolla, Missouri



The Rolla Public Works Department is responsible for streets, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewers and wastewater treatment, traffic control and mapping. In 2010 the City of Rolla participated in the Missouri Water Utility Partnership, an EPA-sponsored pilot project to assist utilities in developing an energy management plan and identifying available funding options to implement energy improvement projects. Approximately $7 million in energy improvement projects were identified for the water and wastewater utilities and city buildings.
