Report: Infrastructure Funding for Community Water Systems in New Mexico, Including Tribal Community Systems

Despite the availability of many loan and grant programs to help communities with drinking water infrastructure in NM, many communities—especially small, rural communities—lack the internal and external resources and expertise needed to address basic science, planning, design, and construction to solve their water challenges. The Southwest EFC, with funding provided by the Water Foundation, conducted a study to better understand communities’ needs and concerns related to drinking water funding sources—including what is working and more importantly, what is not. This report contains the assessments, strategic thinking, and recommendations of the SW EFC project team.
