Because of these site-specific characteristics, asset life must be viewed within the context and\u00a0conditions\u00a0of that\u00a0asset and the utility system in which it functions.\u00a0The\u00a0exact same asset installed in different\u00a0states, different cities, or even\u00a0different parts\u00a0of the same city may not have the same useful life when considering\u00a0the above-mentioned factors.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Utility staff can\u00a0use\u00a0their experience with the assets and\u00a0maintenance and replacement records\u00a0to estimate the\u00a0remaining\u00a0useful life for existing assets.
