While paper forms are still an acceptable method\u00a0to collect\u00a0asset data, technology has made\u00a0it\u00a0much easier to capture\u00a0data\u00a0without the need for follow-up data entry into a software program. There are dozens of form builders available at little or no cost.\u00a0A tool designed specifically for data collection\u00a0allows\u00a0for complex data collection and can be used offline.\u00a0These data collection applications allow the collection of photos and videos, GPS locations, and other important asset information on any compatible device.\u00a0Systems can export the data captured by these apps to allow for\u00a0synchronization\u00a0with other software or to create a report.<\/p>\n<p>Selecting a Data Collection App<\/p>\n<p>There are many options when choosing a data collection application. Choosing the right app can save a system time and money, and it can help capture the right data at the right time to help make the best decisions for the system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The features within data collection apps can vary\u00a0widely\u00a0including compatibility, connectivity requirements, data security protocols, and processes for data export. They can include setting minimum and\u00a0maximum\u00a0parameters to increase data quality, as well as drop-down menus to simplify data entry and ensure consistency. The apps might\u00a0also have options that allow a system to collect GPS coordinates, photographs,\u00a0and videos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Questions to consider when selecting an app
